Along with reliable drag, you will need a responsive braking system. Abu Garcia Ambassadeur S round reel offers 4-pin centrifugal braking system for responsiveness and consistent braking power. Instant anti-reverse allows perfect back Reeling and puts less pressure on the drag system. For longer castability and line management, it has a level wind system. Truly it deserves to be the best Abu Garcia round reel.
If all goes well on the cast, the casting weight should be landing on the ground somewhere in front of you and the line on the spool should be free of any tangles. It is likely that the casting weight did not cast very far, either from too much brake pressure or thumb pressure or possibly from releasing the cast on a poor trajectory. Stopping your rod tip and releasing your thumb pressure at the eleven o’clock position should give you the proper trajectory for a successful cast. If the casting weight is thumping into the ground only a few feet in front of you, try stopping your rod tip a little sooner during the cast. If it feels like the brake pressure is too tight to pay out much line from the spool, loosen the brake slightly and repeat your cast.

Low profile baitcaster reels vs. the round baitcaster are very similar but the primary difference is the size. Low profile is the smaller, lighter reel and the round reel is larger and heavier. Low profile baitcasters are certainly the most popular for the typical fisherman. Here are some quick Pros / Cons for Low profile vs. Round Baitcasting reels.

Designed to be a low profile fishing reel that provides precise castability that can be easily customized to fit your particular needs, the Abu Garcia Pro Max is a baitcasting reel that has a number of well-designed features that make it easier to operate and easier to reel in those stubborn fish. It’s a 7.1:1 reel that has 7 stainless ball bearings and 1 roller bearing, a MagTrax braking system and a Power Disk system that keeps the drag smooth through the entire range of the drag. It’s a lightweight reel that can handle the rigors of both inshore and offshore fishing.
I have owned many reels, to include many that were much more expensive than this. I have found this real to be equal to if not better than every reel I have ever owned. The action is smooth, the drag is as promised, and the build quality is greater than expected. You truly cannot go wrong with this reel. My boys and I now own 6 of these reels as well as KastKing spinning reels. I do not see myself ever purchasing a brand of reel besides KastKing. They have yet to let me down in any way and I for one appreciate their great products at more than fair prices.
This eccentric braking system depends on discharging from a central force. When the rotation speed of the spool is higher, the pins expand out further. This system is responsible for controlling the spool speed at the beginning of the cast. One of the most budget-friendly and simple solution braking system on the market. You can easily master the braking technique but it lacks efficient adjustment.

Piscifun’s reel is powerful! It allows you to handle large fish with ease. This low-profile baitcasting reel comes with an advanced three washer design giving it a whopping 18 pounds of drag. Not only is it strong but it uses some of the highest quality gears currently on the market. They are industrial strength, climate resistant Japanese Hami cut 3604 brass gears. As if that weren’t enough this reel has a truly unique feature that sets it apart from many others. It comes equipped with a side plate oil port that allows you maximize and supervise the life, longevity and performance of this reel. This bait caster has a gear ratio of 7.1:1 meaning it is extremely silent and allows you to retrieve your line at a truly amazing rate. This reel sets the bar pretty high, and that’s why it made our list of top baitcasting reels.

July 2016 I have used this real very hard throw up to 4 ounce baits, has not missed a beat. I caught all these muskies in the pictures on this reel, handled them absolutely perfect. You need to take the spool out and put some grease down in the dog gear if you hear a grinding sound that will fix the problem. There is nothing wrong with the real it's just they are skimpy on their grease cost money you know. I am guess I have 40 hours of had use and it still doing great, there is no paint showing signs of wear either. I will give a update.
